General Vollin graduated top of her class from West Point, only to then lead one of the largest disasters in Earth's military history immediately following her relatively easy rise to the top. The court of inquiry found that she suffered from being overly aggressive, often charging in rather than setting up a defensive line, and once past the paper exams she considered logistics academic.
Therefore, when Project Zambai was proposed, she was deemed a natural choice for the leadership of the assault.
